Looks like NY is starting to deal with a similar situation, in which the online representation for workgroups has become cluttered and or inaccurate. See
http://www.nycga.net/2011/11/30/plans-t ... re-groups/ as well as
http://notes.occupy.net/p/NYCGA.net_Groups_Policy which is the actual proposal they are making.
I believe that is of the utmost importance that we maintain cleanliness and an outwards appearance of organization and activity within the forums, in order to continue its usefulness and growth. To facilitate this, I am proposing that we move inactive forums to some sort of archive section, so that we can focus what activity does exist, and clear out old and legacy information. Perhaps new posts in archived forums could be displayed at some some centralized location as to not discourage their usage.
There are workgroups that have little to no activity, or ones that actually do not exist anymore, "The Steering WG no longer exists; see
http://occupyseattle.org/site-page/proposal-checklist for information on submitting proposals," and having inactive forums is very discouraging to people who want to interact with those groups. If we wish to maintain this community, I strongly suggest that we build a system for maintaining accurate and up to date moderation and management of a workgroup's online presence, making sure that the workgroup is committed to the communication channel that we are providing to them.
Thanks for your time and efforts!
